Whale & Wildlife Report | August 6-12, 2023
This week we encountered multiple species of whales and dolphins on our trips. We spotted numerous cetaceans including pilot whales, beaked whales, Hawaiian spinner dolphins, and bottlenose dolphins! We can find a wide variety of year-round wildlife, and we especially enjoy spending time with pelagic whales. Beaked whales are not frequently encountered, so every time we see them is a cool experience!
We had visitors from far and wide this week, and we were thankful for pleasant conditions on our adventures. The search for wildlife begins even before we leave the dock, and we saw quite a few turtles hauled on the rocks as we made our way in and out of the marina. During one of our trips, our team spotted a large tiger shark swimming near our slip!
The mantas were active this week and our trips had some great encounters. We witnessed lots of barrel rolling beneath the boards and some close encounters with a few familiar mantas! We encountered almost a dozen during one of our adventures, and even with just a handful, we had very eventful trips!
