Whale watching in Kona is year-round! Hawaiian Adventures Kona has access to both near-shore and pelagic zones, which gives you the opportunity to see humpbacks, spinner dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, flying fish, surface-feeding mantas, pilot whales, beaked whales, sperm whales, spotted dolphins, whale sharks, and more! This tour is appropriate for guests ages 10 and above.

Our Kona Night Manta tours depart strategically out of Honokohau Marina, giving us the ability to head where there’s better conditions, fewer people, and more mantas. This small-group tour is the best way to experience the #1 activity on the Big Island. Appropriate for adventurers ages 11 and above.

We offer four departure times during humpback season (mid-December-March), giving you the ability to enjoy a private whale watch tour at any time of the day!

Reservations are highly recommended as our tours tend to sell out. Day-of and walk-up reservations are welcome when space is available. We recommend calling to check availability prior to arriving to the marina.
Tours require a minimum of 10 passengers 24 hours prior to departure to run. In the rare event that we do not hit that minimum, a Hawaiian Adventures crew member will reach out to either reschedule or issue a full refund. If you've booked a private charter, the 10-person minimum does not apply.
Hawaiian Adventures reserves the right to substitute vessels and, at times, add additional tours as necessary.
Hawaiian Adventures reserves the right to cancel a tour due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances. On this rare occasion, a full refund will be granted or your tour can be rescheduled to another date.
Hawaiian Adventures is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen personal property aboard any of our tours.
Cancellation Policies
Public Tours
Cancellations more than 24 hours prior to the departure time: Canceled reservations are subject to a 6% cancellation fee to cover the merchant service charges. Guests may reschedule public tour reservations at no charge up to 24 hours prior to the tour.
Cancellations within 24 hours prior to the departure time: Reservations held for a public tour canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled departure time are not eligible for a refund.
Private Charters
Cancellations more than 48 hours prior to the departure time: Canceled private charter reservations are subject to a 6% cancellation fee to cover the merchant service charges. Private charters require 48 hours notice prior to the tour to reschedule.
Cancellations within 48 hours prior to the departure time: Private charter reservations canceled within 48 hours of the scheduled departure time are not eligible for a refund.
