Top 5 Places to Eat after a Trip with Hawaiian Adventures

You’re just rounding the final corner, keeping an eye out for Tiger sharks and Hawaiian Spinner dolphins. The boat makes its way back into Honokohau Harbor after an amazing day spent exploring the wonders of the Kona Coast. As the tour comes to an end and you wave goodbye to our crew an important question comes to mind…. where’s a good place to eat around here? Trust us, we have some mouthwatering recommendations for you! Thankfully Kailua-Kona, on the Big Island, is home to a number of spectacular eateries that really hit the spot.

Foster’s Kitchen on Ali’i Drive: This second-story upscale eatery offers amazing food made from scratch with locally sourced ingredients. With elevated, waterfront, ocean views Foster’s Kitchen is a great spot for lunch or a sunset dinner. Known for its Burgers, Pasta, Flatbread Pizzas, and Craft Cocktails Foster’s has something for everyone. Don’t miss out on their Whipped Goat Cheese Bruschetta.

Pine Tree Cafe at Kohanaiki: This laid-back eatery across the street from the famous pine tree beach park offers reasonably priced and hearty portioned Hawaiian-style plate lunches. Grab a Loco Moco or Spicy Garlic Chicken plate to-go and head across the street to Pine Tree beach and enjoy your food overlooking the ocean.

Harbor House at Honokohau Harbor: Not in the mood to drive anywhere before eating? No Problem. This open-air restaurant hangout looking over the harbor is a classic American eatery with a Kona twist. Enjoy a draft beer served in their famous frosted schooner glasses while watching boats come and go from their slips or your favorite team play on one of their many flatscreen TV’s. With a board menu and relaxed atmosphere, the Harbor House is suitable for the whole family.

Pau Hana Poke: For the best fresh Poke on the Island swing into Pau Hana and sample a variety of amazing poke options. Pick your favorite poke and sides then head to the beach or back to your hotel to enjoy this authentic taste of Hawaii. Don’t forget to add an extra side of Banana bread for breakfast the next morning.

El Mercadito Rincon Mexicano at the International Market: A crew favorite, this hole-in-the wall Mexican restaurant located in the back of the old International Market serves the best Mexican food on the Big Island. Authentic recipes and quality ingredients are the hallmark of this no-frills establishment. Grab one of their massive burritos and take the short 5 minute drive to Old Airport beach. Let your feet sink into the sand while enjoying your food at one of the park's many shaded picnic tables.

Of course, there are many other fantastic restaurants around Kona and across the whole island. Ask your crew for other insider recommendations next time you’re out on the water with us! We love showing our guests the best the Big Island has to offer. Although ocean wildlife is our specialty, we can certainly appreciate a good meal after a day under the Hawaiian sun.
